Results Focus: Powerful Personal Training

At Rival we believe results matter and nothing excites us more than being able to see Rivalers meet and beat their personal goals. Over the course of 2018 we watched Alison J. make tremendous gains (and losses!). We asked Alison about her triumphant journey and here’s what she had to say:

I have always been that person who makes a New Year’s resolution to get fit, get strong, work out and lose weight. Every year. And every year I have tried and failed. The gym has always been intimidating to me – I never knew how  to do what everyone else was doing. Add frustration and embarrassment to intimidation and I repeatedly gave up. All of that changed when I began training with Sean in January 2018.  

Sean not only taught me the correct way to lift, workout, run, stretch and more, but he also gave me the emotional support and confidence to keep going when the work was difficult.  Sean is firm but kind, caring and funny, but direct.  He gives honest feedback and praise (when I deserve it), which makes me feel like I am succeeding. Sean is smart and incredibly knowledgeable in his field, relaying not only the “how to” but the “why” of specific movements and efforts.  

After a year of training I have gone from dreading the gym to looking forward to my time at Rival. Thanks to Sean, I have made huge progress. I have gained muscle, balance and strength and have lost weight and a few dress sizes. And I feel more confident, not only in the gym but in my life in general. Feeling fit and strong seems to have that effect!
